My search for my son began before we had the internet. Catholic Charites would not give me any information — not even the county in which he was adopted! After many months of my phone calls and letters to the agency, a social worker finally sent a letter to the adoptive parents, allegedly informing them of my request for information or contact. The adopters never responded! At the time, my only recourse was to pay a “professional adoption searcher” to see what she could find. My son and I have been reunited, and we have faithful, consistent contact.
